Abstract
This study aims to understand how the meaning of indebtedness to parents influences the household accounting practices of a head of household. Using a qualitative method with Heidegger's phenomenological approach, this study explores the life experiences of informants through in-depth interviews. The results show that gratitude is interpreted as a moral and spiritual obligation, rather than a transactional reciprocal relationship. This meaning is manifested in the allocation of income that is routinely set aside for the mother, as well as non-financial assistance that is integrated into daily financial management. This practice forms a stable expenditure structure without disrupting the family's primary needs. This study confirms that moral and emotional values are an important part of financial decision-making. The limitation of this study is that the research subjects are limited to one family, so the findings cannot be generalized broadly.
