Abstract

Human trafficking is one of the complex and evolving global issues, including in Indonesia, which serves as a source, transit, and destination country. The International Organization for Migration (IOM) plays a vital role in assisting the Indonesian government in addressing this crime. This study aims to analyze the efforts made by IOM in combating human trafficking in Indonesia during the 2023-2024 period. The research uses a qualitative method with a descriptive-analytical approach and relies on secondary data from official reports, academic journals, policy documents, and IOM publications. This study employs the concept of human trafficking and the concept of the role of international organizations, emphasizing the importance of cooperation among actors in the international system to address cross-border issues such as human trafficking. The results show that IOM has implemented various strategic programs, such as providing direct assistance to victims, training law enforcement personnel, strengthening national institutional capacity, and conducting public awareness campaigns. IOM's collaboration with the government and civil society organizations has also proven to strengthen the national system in the prevention, protection, and recovery of human trafficking victims. However, challenges such as a lack of cross-sectoral coordination and limited resources remain obstacles to optimizing these efforts. This study recommends the need to strengthen synergy among stakeholders and to continuously evaluate the programs being implemented. Keywords: Human trafficking, IOM, Indonesia, response efforts, 2023–2024
