Abstract
Athletics is considered the oldest sport and is often referred to as the mother of all sports because its fundamental components include walking, running, jumping, throwing, and playing. One of the key components in athletics is speed. Various factors influence the improvement of speed, such as dietary intake, training programs, and others. The purpose of this study is to analyze the relationship between body weight, height, intake of macronutrients and potassium, VO2Max capacity, and hydration status with the running speed of SKO Ragunan athletics athletes. This research employed a cross-sectional study design. The sample consisted of 41 adolescent track and field athletes aged 12–18 years, who were in grades 7–12 at SKO Ragunan. The sampling technique used was total sampling, involving all registered track and field athletes at SKO Ragunan. Data were analyzed using Pearson correlation tests. Bivariate analysis showed significant relationships between body weight (p=0.009), height (p=0.002), and carbohydrate intake (p=0.031) with the running speed of the athletes. To improve athletes' speed and performance, support from various parties is essential. Several factors, such as nutritional intake and the timing of its provision, also need to be taken into consideration.
