Abstract

One of the main problems that must be addressed in the provinces of Java is poverty, which affects various aspects of social and economic development. The purpose of this study is to analyze the variables that influence poverty in Java, particularly the Human Development Index (HDI), open unemployment rate, and population size. The secondary data used were obtained from the official website of the Central Statistics Agency (BPS) and cover six provinces between 2015 and 2024. STATA 17 was used in the panel data regression approach of this study with the Fixed Effects Model (FEM). The findings of this study are as follows: (1) Population size influences the poverty rate. (2) The open unemployment rate influences poverty. (3) The Human Development Index influences the poverty rate.
