Abstract

The growing number of students and the increasing volume of data in academic information systems (SIAKAD) have led to performance and scalability issues, particularly during periods of high concurrent access. This study aims to implement message broker and caching technologies as solutions to these challenges, using a questionnaire submission system as a case study. Apache Kafka is utilized as a message broker to manage asynchronous data processing, while Redis is employed as a caching layer to accelerate access to frequently used data. Load testing is conducted using Apache JMeter to compare system performance before and after technology integration. The analyzed metrics include response time, throughput, and error rate. The results show that the implementation of Apache Kafka and Redis significantly enhances the system’s performance and scalability on several system endpoints, making it a valuable reference for the development of reliable academic information systems in higher education environments.
