Abstract
The advancement of the manufacturing industry encourages companies to constantly improve efficiency and product quality in order to compete in the midst of intense global competition. PT XYZ as a honey producer faces the problem of waste in the honey production process, especially in the types of defects, unnecessary motion, and waiting. This research aims to identify the main causes of waste and formulate improvement solutions using the Lean Manufacturing approach. The method used is descriptive with quantitative and qualitative approaches. The results show that defects are caused by operator inaccuracy, non-optimal machine conditions, and the absence of SOPs. Unnecessary motion occurs due to unergonomic work activities, such as bending or manual lifting. Meanwhile, waiting is triggered by the manual process of heating and cooling the machine. Various improvement proposals were tested through simulations to measure the increase in efficiency. The simulation results showed that Proposal 1, in the form of additional operators at the raw material weighing station, resulted in the highest efficiency improvement of 20.68%. Proposal 5 (a combination of all improvements) actually provides a lower efficiency of 8.47%, and Proposal 3 shows a decrease in efficiency. The implementation of Lean Manufacturing is proven to minimize waste and improve efficiency at PT XYZ.
