Abstract

This study tells about the implementation of the Mandalika MotoGP in Indonesia and utilizing the large number of MotoGP fans as a major momentum for Indonesia's leading tourism after the COVID-19 pandemic. The purpose of this study is to analyze Indonesia's role as host of the Mandalika MotoGP event and to become a leading tourism destination in 2022-2023. The author uses the theory of sports diplomacy from Murray (2008, 2012, 2018), Nygård and Gates (2013), Padhi (2011), Trunkos and Heere (2017), then uses the concept of multi-track diplomacy by Diamond and McDonald (1996) to identify the roles of the Ministry and ITDC (Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation). This study uses a descriptive qualitative method that utilizes a literature study and documentation approach. The results of this study answer the researcher's problem to see the efforts of the actors in organizing the Mandalika MotoGP event in 2022-2023, as well as provide suggestions to stakeholders for future implementation improvements that can have a better impact on Indonesian sports diplomacy.
