Abstract
Antibiotic resistance is a pressing global health concern, estimated to cause approximately 700,000 deaths annually worldwide. In Indonesia, the prevalence of antibiotic resistance has increase from 40% in 2013 to 60.4% in 2019. According to the 2023 Riskesdas, there were 133.800 deaths related to antimicrobial resistance in 2019, placing Indonesia 78th out of 204 countries. This study aimed to examine the relationship between the level of knowledge regarding antibiotic resistance and antibiotic use behavior among students of Universitas Pembangunan Nasional “Veteran” Jakarta. A cross-sectional design was employed, involving 142 respondents from the Faculty of Medicine (FM) and the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FSPS), selected through accidental sampling. Data were collected via questionnaires and analyzed using Spearman’s rank and Mann-Whitney U tests. Results showed that 98.6% of FM students and 84.9% of FSPS students demonstrated good knowledge of antibiotic resistance. Additionally, 94.2% of FM students and 87.7% of FSPS students exhibited good antibiotic use behavior. However, no significant relationship wa found between the level of knowledge about antibiotic resistance and antibiotic use behavior was not significant (p = 0.134).
