Abstract

This research aims to design and develop an Android-based e-commerce application with chatbot features for eyewear product recommendations at Optik Sarimbit. The research addresses the accuracy level of the chatbot in providing eyewear product recommendations and how the chatbot feature on the mobile application can enhance customer satisfaction. The research methodology employed is Research and Development with a prototype approach through stages of problem identification, literature review, system analysis, chatbot system development, testing, and implementation. The chatbot was developed using a rule-based approach with quick reply buttons and integrated with Firebase Firestore as the database. Testing was conducted through blackbox testing of 39 functional scenarios and questionnaires distributed to 75 respondents who are customers of Optik Sarimbit. Blackbox testing results showed that all application features functioned properly without issues, covering authentication, chatbot interaction, product catalog, shopping cart, checkout process, and Firebase integration. The results show that the chatbot implementation achieved a satisfactory accuracy level, with 80.0% of respondents stating that the chatbot provided accurate answers and 78.7% confirming that the product recommendations met their needs. The chatbot feature also significantly improved customer satisfaction, from previously 74.7% who were satisfied with the process of obtaining information in physical stores to 85.3% after using the application with the chatbot feature. Ease of use increased from 68.0% to 89.3%, while satisfaction in receiving product education increased from 73.3% to 86.7%. The e-commerce application with chatbot features has proven to be an effective solution for digitalizing optical businesses, with a System Usability Scale score of 78.5 out of 100.
