Abstract

Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) remains a significant public health concern in Indonesia, including Kota Depok, which recorded 8,541 cases in 2023. This study aimed to identify factors associated with pulmonary TB incidence in the working area of Cinere Health Center using a case-control design. A total of 70 respondents were selected through purposive sampling. Primary data were collected via interviews using a modified questionnaire based on Ministry of Health Regulation No. 829/Menkes/SK/VII/1999 and observations with a Lux Meter. Secondary data on TB diagnosis were obtained from Cinere Health Center’s records. Chi-square analysis revealed significant associations between pulmonary TB and the following variables: ceiling condition (p=0.005), wall type (p<0.001), floor type (p=0.017), presence of bedroom windows (p=0.026), kitchen smoke vents (p<0.001), lighting (p=0.046), and availability of trash bins (p<0.001). However, no significant relationship was found for window-opening habits (p=1.000), trash disposal habits (p=0.630), or cooking fuel type (p=0.493). The study concludes that the physical condition of the house is significantly associated with pulmonary TB incidence. It is recommended that the community adopt healthy living practices, and that Cinere Health Center intensify environmental health monitoring, and conduct regular health education on TB prevention and healthy housing standards.
