Abstract
Pneumonia remains a major health challenge in Indonesia, especially in the under-five age group. The Depok Health Office's 2023 report showed that the Cinere Primary Health Center's work area had the highest number of pneumonia cases, with 586 cases, or approximately 6.9%. This study aimed to identify factors that contribute to the incidence of pneumonia among under-fives using a case-control study design with a sample ratio of 1:1, (53 cases and 53 controls). The selection of samples in the group was taken using a purposive sampling technique. Data were collected through questionnaire instruments as well as measurements of indoor air quality (PM2.5) and lighting, then analyzed using a multivariate logistic regression. Results showed that exclusive breastfeeding (aOR=2.66; 95% CI: 1.08 —6.54), ventilation (aOR: 0.27; 95% CI: 0.10-0.71), and residential density (aOR=5.38; 95% CI: 1.96-14.49) were significantly associated with pneumonia among under-five children. The most dominant factor was residential density, with an aOR of 5.38. It is recommended that the Depok Health Office and Cinere Primary Health Center collaborate with Posyandu to promote healthy housing, especially in areas with high population density, and also exclusive breastfeeding to help mothers overcome common barriers.
