Abstract

The Electronic Traffic Law Enforcement (ETLE) system is a modern solution for traffic monitoring in Indonesia, but it still faces limitations in recognizing license plates under varying lighting conditions. This research develops a license plate detection system using the YOLOv8 algorithm integrated with Optical Character Recognition (OCR) and a graphical user interface (GUI) built with Streamlit. The method involves object detection using YOLOv8, character recognition with OCR, license plate format validation based on Indonesian regulations, and odd-even classification. The system displays detection results visually through bounding boxes, OCR-extracted text, and a summary table. Testing wish the system accurately detects and reads license plates during both daytime and nighttime. All GUI features function properly, supporting automatic and efficient license plate recognition.
