Abstract

Office workers are often faced with high work pressure, such as tight targets, short deadlines, excessive work tasks, and demands to always be productive. An unhealthy work environment can interfere with workers' health such as work stress and if left unchecked the result is a prolonged increase in blood pressure resulting in a risk of hypertension. This study aims to analyze the relationship between the level of work stress and the risk of hypertension in employees of the Jakarta K3 Center in 2025. This research is a quantitative study using a crosssectional design. The study population was all office employees and K3 testers with a sample of 70 workers through the total sampling technique. The research instrument used a questionnaire and was analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that 62.9% experienced the risk of hypertension. Individual and occupational factors that are significantly associated with the risk of hypertension are age and work stress. The majority of work stress is 64.3% and the result of p-value = 0.003 (PR =1.58; CI 95%=0.55-4.55). Meanwhile, age, gender, work location distance, work rotation, bmi, smoking behavior, and heredity did not show a significant relationship. The prevalence of non-significant factors is not enough for office workers to be at risk of hypertension. Implementation of a workplace-based stress management program, periodic health checks, and modification of the work environment according to OHS guidelines are recommended. Further studies are needed to measure the prevalence of hypertension and site-specific stress levels in this study.
