Abstract
This research aims to design and develop an Android based Book Tracker application with MVVM architectural pattern to enhance literacy among students of the Faculty of Computer Science at Universitas Pembangunan Nasional "Veteran" Jakarta. The low literacy level in Indonesia, reflected by the decline in PISA scores in reading from 397 (2015) to 359 (2022), forms the background of this research. Using the waterfall method, the research began with problem identification through interviews with FIK students, followed by application design and development implementing MVVM components. The Book Tracker application integrates features for book status tracking, reading progress tracking, goal setting, and gamification elements. The results of the black box testing, conducted by a student from the Faculty of Computer Science through 19 test scenarios, indicate that all the application's functionalities are working correctly, achieving a success rate of 100 percent. Interviews with students showed increased motivation and reading consistency after using the application. Interview data analysis using the Miles & Huberman model included data reduction, data display, and conclusion drawing. Users reported significant benefits from the progress tracking and gamification features in encouraging better reading habits. The implementation of MVVM architecture successfully separated UI components from business logic.
