Abstract

This study explores how accounting and business sustainability are practiced based on the value of barakah (blessing) as understood by frozen food MSME owners. The researcher adopts an Islamic perspective, believing that all human actions, including financial practices, are guided by religious values and will be held accountable to Allah SWT. This study also aims to understand how Islamic values are integrated into the concept of barakah. A qualitative method with a case study approach was used, involving two MSMEs: Frozen Jakarta Selatan and Aneka Frozen Food. Data was collected through observation, interviews, and document analysis. The validity of the data was ensured through source and technique triangulation. The findings show that accounting is applied in a simple manner, such as manual bookkeeping, semi-separated business and personal finances, and basic profit calculations. Transparency and accountability appear through the honesty of both owners and employees, reflecting Islamic ethical values. The pursuit of profit is accompanied by efforts to gain blessings, seen in business practices like avoiding riba, promoting employee welfare, preventing fraud, and giving charity to the community. These practices not only reflect religious commitment but also contribute to the sustainability of the business, both economically and socially.
