Abstract
Background: Pulmonary tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by the bacteria mycobacterium tuberculosis that attacks the respiratory system. The disease is spread through the air, when patients cough, spit, or talk. Lung TB claims the lives of 1.3 million people every year, this disease if not treated properly and quickly shows a fatal impact on mortality. Objective: Providing nursing care to patient An. B with Tuberculosis through the application of effective cough to reduce secretions. Methods: This study used a case study design on nursing care for children with pulmonary Tb by applying effective cough interventions for two days. Results: Nursing problems found in patients are ineffective airway clearance, nutritional deficits, knowledge deficits. The interventions carried out were the application of effective coughing to overcome ineffective airway clearance. After the implementation of effective coughing for 3x24 hours, the problem of ineffective airway clearance can be resolved. Conclusion: The application of effective coughing is clinically proven to be able to increase sputum secretion in the problem of ineffective airway clearance. This intervention can be used as one of the non-pharmacological therapy options that support patient recovery
