Abstract
Pneumonia is one of the leading causes of child mortality in Indonesia. Data from the Indonesian Ministry of Health in 2021 recorded 278,261 cases of pneumonia in children, with the highest prevalence in the DKI Jakarta area at 72.4%. This study aims to describe nursing care for preschool children with pneumonia in the inpatient room of Soedirman National Hospital using a case study approach. The method used is the nursing process which includes assessment, diagnosis, intervention, implementation, and evaluation. The results showed three main nursing diagnoses: ineffective airway clearance, ineffective breathing patterns, and nutritional deficits. The main data found included rapid breathing frequency (35x/min), use of breathing muscles, wet rales, oxygen saturation of 95%, and decreased appetite. Two of the three diagnoses were optimally resolved, while nutritional deficits still did not show significant improvement. The main intervention was airway management, focusing on effective coughing techniques and semi-fowler position. The conclusion of this study emphasizes the importance of structured nursing interventions in improving the respiratory status of children with pneumonia. Suggestions for future research are the use of a larger sample size so that the results can be generalized more widely. Keywords: Preschool Child, Nursing Care, Pneumonia, Respiration
