Abstract
Investing in the capital market, especially mutual funds, is an attractive option for students to start planning their finances. However, the lack of financial literacy and complexity in choosing investment instruments often become obstacles. This research aims to build a Mutual Fund Capital Market Investment Recommendation System for UPN “Veteran” Jakarta students to assist in determining appropriate investment options. The method used in developing this system is Waterfall, which includes the stages of identification of needs, data collection, data mining using the K-Nearest Neighbors (KNN) algorithm, system design, development, and testing. The data used is collected from UPN “Veteran” Jakarta students by considering various factors, such as investment understanding, economic conditions, and financial goals. This system will provide recommendations for mutual fund types based on risk profile. The results show that the developed system is able to provide predictions of interest in investing as well as mutual fund investment recommendations in accordance with user characteristics. With this system, it is expected that students can better understand investment in the capital market and make better financial decisions.
