Abstract

The flat plate ships represent an interesting innovation in the maritime industry because their construction does not require the time-consuming process of bending plates. However, these ships face challenges in terms of resistance, unlike conventional streamlined ships. This study aims to analyze the differences in resistance experienced by flat plate ships with several variations of axe bow. The methods employed include simulations using Maxsurf Resistance software with the holtrop method and ANSYS Fluent with boundary location configuration to model the hydrodynamic characteristics of the ship. The research focuses on various axe bow angles of the flat plate ship, specifically 90°, 135°, and 150°, conducted at speeds ranging from 0.63 m/s to 1.48 m/s. The goal is to understand how these angles affect resistance in flat plate ships.
