Abstract
Female prisoners and children born in correctional institutions must have their rights fulfilled. However, not all correctional institutions provide adequate facilities for female convicts who are pregnant and give birth and the children they give birth to. This research discusses the fulfillment of the rights of women who are pregnant and giving birth in correctional institutions and the obstacles to fulfilling the rights of female convicts in correctional institutions. The aim of this research is to determine and analyze efforts to fulfill the rights of female convicts who are pregnant and give birth in correctional institutions and to determine and analyze obstacles in efforts to fulfill the rights of female convicts in correctional institutions. The method used in this research is normative juridical with a statutory approach and a conceptual approach. The results of this research show that there are additional rights that are not mentioned in the Corrections Law as a form of fulfilling the rights of female convicts who are pregnant and give birth and the children they give birth to. Additional rights besides the basic rights in the Corrections Law include the right to health insurance, the right to a clean environment, psychological rights, the right to productive activities and recreational rights for children. However, these additional rights have not been fulfilled properly because there are several obstacles such as the lack of improvement in the fulfillment of these rights which stems from the lack of budget funds at Correctional Institutions. Therefore, it is important for the government, especially correctional institutions through correctional officers, to work together to fulfill the rights of female convicts who become pregnant and give birth in correctional institutions.
