Abstract

Background: Cervical cancer is the 2nd most common cancer among women living in less developed areas. One of the underdeveloped areas in Indonesia is West Papua and Maluku. The number of women who still lack understanding about cervical cancer, this is due to low knowledge about cervical cancer and lack of awareness or lack of motivation for the importance of HPV vaccination where the HPV virus is the main cause of cervical cancer. The main target in the implementation of HPV vaccination is women who have not had sexual contact. Therefore, adolescents, especially junior high school students (13-15 years old), have a higher vaccine efficacy rate because they are not yet sexually active. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between knowledge about cervical cancer and motivation to do HPV vaccination among junior high school students of SMPIT Al-Hikmah Depok. Methods: This study used a cross-sectional design and quantitative research methods. Then using stratified random sampling technique which 144 respondents became the sample of this study. Results: The results of the Spearman Rank Test on the knowledge variable with HPV vaccination motivation showed a P-value of 0.000 (<0.05). Conclusion: There is a significant relationship between Cervical Cancer Knowledge and Motivation to Vaccinate HPV in SMPIT Al-Hikmah Depok students.
