Abstract
Landfill waste is a common issue faced by everyone. According to data from the The Central Statistics Agency of Indonesia, the waste in Jakarta Province reached 7,500 tons in 2023. The primary function of incineration is the utilization of waste as the main material for Waste-to-Energy (WTE) plants, which can reduce waste mass by up to 70%. The characteristics of the waste, after undergoing the prescribed processing procedures, show the presence of Carbon, Hydrogen, Oxygen, Nitrogen, and Sulfides, which are then burned to determine the thermal contours and velocity. These waste characteristics can then be used as fuel with the help of an incinerator and methane gas (CH4). ANSYS is the CFD software used for this incineration study. The CFD modeling solution using k-epsilon is employed for pressure, and the Coupled method is used. The simulation results show the contours of velocity and thermal distribution. The velocity contour shows good results with 0.004m/s; however, the thermal contour has not yet reached optimal conditions, as the temperature is still at 727K during the combustion of mixed waste, and the iterations of the k-ε model show an optimal graph where the models shows a turbulence graph, and also shows the residual of waste such as CH4 CO2 O2 H2O.
