Abstract
The Human Development Index (HDI) is an indicator to measure the progress of human development which includes education, health, and decent standard of living. his study aims to analyze the effect of government expenditure in the education sector, government expenditure in the health sector, and per capita expenditure on HDI in the Special Region of Yogyakarta (DIY) Province. This study uses data from five (5) districts/cities of DIY Province with the period 2013-2022. The analysis method applied is panel data regression with Random Effect Model (REM) which is processed using STATA 17 software. The results showed that partially, health sector government spending has a positive and significant effect on HDI. Government expenditure in the education sector has a negative and significant effect on HDI. Meanwhile, per capita expenditure has a positive and significant effect on HDI. Simultaneously, the three independent variables have a significant effect on HDI in five (5) districts/cities in DIY Province.
