Abstract
The Human Development Index (HDI) serves as a crucial indicator for measuring the quality of development in a specific region. This research aims to analyze the factors influencing the Human Development Index in East Kalimantan Province during the period 2013-2023. The studied variables include Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP), Poverty Rate, and Government Expenditure in the Health Sector. The research methodology employs panel data regression analysis using the Fixed Effect Model (FEM) approach. Data sources were obtained from the Central Bureau of Statistics (BPS), the Directorate General of Fiscal Balance (DJPK), and official websites of the East Kalimantan Province. The research findings reveal that Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) significantly influences the Human Development Index in East Kalimantan, indicating that economic growth plays a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for its residents. Additionally, the Poverty Rate variable was found to have a significant impact, suggesting that efforts to reduce poverty can lead to improvements in HDI. However, Government Expenditure in the Health Sector did not demonstrate a significant influence on the Human Development Index, which implies that other factors, such as education and infrastructure development, may be more critical in determining human development outcomes in the region.
