Abstract
East Kalimantan is the province with the lowest participation rate on the island of Kalimantan. In the last 3 years, economic growth in East Kalimantan has also increased quite significantly, but until now East Kalimantan is still the province with the highest unemployment rate on the island of Kalimantan. The labor force participation rate is one of the important indicators in measuring how much the workforce contributes to the economy of a region. This study focuses on 10 regencies/cities in East Kalimantan Province in 2018-2023. The research method used is panel data using the selected model, namely sys-GMM. The results of the study show that investment has a significant negative effect and has a significant positive effect on the labor force participation rate, while the minimum wage and population have a positive and significant effect. Policies that support increased investment and adjustments to the minimum wage are expected to improve welfare and expand employment opportunities in East Kalimantan.
