Abstract
As a developing country, Indonesia is driving digital economic transformation to facilitate access to financial services, including quick loans. However, this shift has also triggered the proliferation of illegal online lending practices that often harm the public. Bank Syariah Indonesia (BSI) emerges as a solution, offering secure financing aligned with Islamic principles. This study aims to analyze the mechanism of Sharia-compliant People's Business Credit (KUR Syariah) at BSI’s Wahid Hasyim Sub-Branch Office (KCP) as an effort to protect Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) from illegal online lending practices. This research employs a qualitative method with a case study approach, supported by data triangulation to enhance validity. Primary data were collected through interviews with employees, branch managers, and KUR customers at BSI, while secondary data were obtained from documentation and observations of official websites, including those of the Financial Services Authority (OJK), BSI and news sources. The findings reveal that the KUR Syariah mechanism at BSI KCP Wahid Hasyim adheres to established procedures and applies contracts based on Islamic principles. Furthermore, BSI implements consumer protection principles within its KUR products and services, effectively safeguarding customers from illegal online lending while fostering sustainable MSME development.
