Abstract

ABSTRACT This study aims to describe the language disorder presentation in patients with Cerebrovascular Disease (CVD) and subcortical lesions at the Presidential Hospital Gatot Soebroto Jakarta. The research employs a descriptive method with a cross-sectional approach, involving 60 patients who met the inclusion criteria during the period of January 2021 to June 2024. Data were obtained from patient medical records, including age characteristics, gender, type of language disorder, and lesion location. The results show that the age groups of 50–59 and 70–79 years have the highest prevalence (25% each). Male patients dominate (63.3%), with motor language disorders being the most common type (86.7%). Subcortical lesions are most frequently found in the basal ganglia (40%). This study provides valuable insights into the distribution and characteristics of language disorders in CVD patients with subcortical lesions and supports the optimization of diagnosis and treatment. However, this study is limited by its descriptive nature and incomplete medical record data, necessitating further research for long-term monitoring. Keywords: cerebrovascular disease; language disorders; subcortical lesions; basal ganglia; Presidential Hospital Gatot Soebroto
