Abstract
Indonesia holds the second position among countries with a significant burden of tuberculosis (TB) where the success of treatment has not reached the national target. Health problems increase with age. Generally speaking, elderly people are almost always multi-diagnosed. Drug interactions are among the most common reasons for therapeutic mistakes, especially in the elderly. The elderly group has a larger population than any other age group than the total population of the world where the rate of hypertension increases with age. The objective of this study is to analyze the drug interaction of geriatric patients with pulmonary tuberculosis with hypertension to the outcome of therapy in the RSUP Persahabatan care facility 2023. This cross-sectional study used an analytical observational design and was conducted on elderly patients with the primary diagnosis of pulmonar tuberkulosis with concomitant hypertensive disease in the hospital facility of RSUP Persahabatan 2023. The study's findings demonstrate a strong relationship between the medication interaction and the blood pressure reading after the conclusion of therapy (p<0,001) and the sputum outcome in all patients with BTA negative which means that the TB therapy goal is achieved because the medication interaction occurs does not affect the level of the drug therapy TB. Drug interaction affects blood pressure results at the conclusion of treatment so that there needs to be monitoring and evaluation of the use of anti-tuberculosis and antihypertension as well as the patient's laboratory results carried out continuously during the treatment to avoid the occurrence of drug interactions.
