Abstract

Overweight in primary school children is an increasing health problem that has long-term negative impacts. In Indonesia, the prevalence of overweight in children aged 5-12 years reached 11.9%. Overweight in children can be caused by excessive energy intake, lack of physical activity, and screen time that is not in accordance with recommendations. The purpose of this study was to determine the description of energy intake, physical activity, and screen time with the incidence of overweight at SDIT Assalaam Gunung Putri in 2024. This research is descriptive with a cross-sectional design. This research was conducted at SDIT Assalaam Gunung Putri Bogor. The subjects of this study were SDIT Assalaam Gunung Putri students aged 9 to 13 years old and sitting in grades IV, V, and VI. Total sample in this research was 71 respondents. The results showed that SDIT Assalaam Gunung Putri students had 21.1% overweight nutritional status, 8.5% classified as high energy intake, 74.6% lower physical activity and 67.6% screen time that was not according to recommendations The role of schools in this case is expected to be to routinely monitor nutritional status in UKS and education regarding the importance of consuming nutritious food intake, increasing physical activity and doing screen time according to recommendations.
