Abstract

Stunting is a chronic malnutrition problem, in the long term it tends to have an impact on the decline in the quality of human resources, namely low cognitive abilities and educational performance, loss of productivity, increased risk of chronic diseases related to nutrition in adulthood. The national prevalence of stunting in 2022 was 21.6%, and the prevalence of stunting in Asmat Regency in 2022 was defined in the very high significance category, namely 54.5%. This study was conducted to determine the risk factors for stunting in toddlers aged 12-59 months in Asmat Regency in 2022. The population in this study were toddlers aged 12-59 months in Asmat Regency. The sample in this study was all toddlers selected as samples in SSGI 2022 and met the inclusion and exclusion criteria, there were 347 samples in this study. Using a cross-sectional study design and multivariate analysis of the Cox Regression model. The results of this study indicate that gender (PR 0.714; 95% CI: 0.511 - 0.999) is a risk factor for stunting in toddlers aged 12-59 months in Asmat Regency in 2022. The study shows that male gender is 0.714 times lower risk of experiencing stunting, so that relevant stakeholders such as the Health Office, BKKBN, Women's Empowerment and Child Protection Office of Asmat Regency can empower mothers and health cadres regarding nutritional intake and monitoring child growth and development according to gender.
