Abstract
In this digital era, the use of computers as a tool to help with work is very common. Workers who use computers have a high risk of developing Computer Vision Syndrome. In most cases, the symptoms of CVS occur because the demands of the job exceed one's ability to stare at the screen comfortably. The purpose of this study was to determine the relationship between light intensity and individual factors on the incidence of Computer Vision Syndrome in computer-using workers at PT RPE Engineering located in South Jakarta. This research is a quantitative study using a cross-sectional study design. The sample in this study used a saturated sample of 80 respondents. The variables in this study were local lighting intensity, age, gender, refractive errors, use of glasses, use of contact lenses, duration of computer use, and work breaks. Data were analyzed using the chi-square test. The results showed that there were 4 independent variables associated with CVS complaints, namely gender (p=0.006), refractive error (p=0.014), rest pause (p=0.003), and local lighting intensity (p=0.006). Workers who experienced CVS complaints were 61.3%. Computer-using workers are advised to apply the 20-20-20 rule, use anti-glare filters, and blink more often to maintain CVS.
