Abstract

Hospitals are buildings with a relatively high risk of fire. Various risk factors make hospitals vulnerable to fires, such as chemicals from medicines and electricity sources for medical equipment. Considering the occupants of the hospital, evacuation and mobilization of building residents can be quite difficult and limited. Therefore, the implementation of a fire protection system is mandatory for hospitals to manage and prevent fires. This study aims to evaluate the implementation of a fire protection system and life-saving facilities at Hospital X. The method used in this study is descriptive with a qualitative approach through direct observation in the field using a checklist form and direct interviews with several informants. The results of the study showed that the suitability of the active protection system was 52.28%, categorized as inadequate, meaning it was installed but some components did not meet the requirements. The suitability of the passive protection system was 62.50%, categorized as adequate, meaning it met the requirements. Therefore, the hospital must improve its preparedness in fire prevention and control efforts.
