Abstract

The use of modified applications is widely carried out by people from various circles even though it can have a detrimental impact. From a legal point of view, the use of modified applications may violate Copyright. This study aims to analyze how law enforcement against copyright crimes in the use of modified applications. The method used in this study is normative legal research with a legislative and case approach. The theories used in this study are Copyright Theory, Law Enforcement Theory, and Computer Program Modification Theory. The results of the study show that copyright infringement in the use of modified applications includes duplication, modification, and distribution of applications without permission from the copyright holder. Criminal law enforcement against users of modified applications can and has been carried out, but it is less effective because of various obstacles that hinder it including the law enforcement system, technology, limited resources, complicated evidence, stigma and community habits, and economic limitations. In conclusion, although enforcement efforts have been implemented, regulatory updates and increased enforcement capacity are needed to address challenges in handling copyright infringement more effectively.
