Abstract

This research aims to determine the current condition of forest and land fires in Indonesia and the enforcement of laws in the context of Law Number 11 of 2020 concerning Job Creation. This study uses normative juridical research through a statute approach and a conceptual approach. The study's findings reveal that there are 184,223 fire hotspots in Indonesia, with approximately 642,009.73 hectares burned. These hotspots are primarily located within the concessions of 194 companies, some of which have previously engaged in forest and land fires. The enforcement of laws tends to weaken environmental protection by prioritizing the use of administrative sanctions and removing the phrase "without the need for proof of wrongdoing."
