Abstract
Background: Acute respiratory infections (ARIs) are the leading cause of morbidity and mortality from infectious diseases in the world. Approximately 4 million infants die each year from acute respiratory infections, with 98% of these deaths caused by pneumonia, bronchitis and bronchiolitis. Handling ARI in toddlers can be done not only pharmacologically but also non-pharmacologically. Maternal knowledge and attitudes about the disease and handling of ARI in toddlers are the main capital to form good habits and good quality of child’s health. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between maternal education level and maternal knowledge about handling ARI with complementary therapy in toddlers in Gandaria Utara Village RW 13. Methods: This study is a quantitative study with cross sectional method. The sampling technique used was accidental sampling. Any mother who is present at the posyandu of Gandaria Utara RW 13 who fits the inclusion and exclusion criteria of this study will be part of the sample / respondent of this study. The number of samples in this study was 35 mothers with toddlers aged 12 - 59 months. Data were collected by filling out questionnaires by mothers of toddlers. Results: The results of the Chi square test analysis showed that there was a relationship between the mother's education level and the mother's knowledge about complementary therapy for ARI treatment in toddlers.
