Abstract
Innovation continues to be made in the maritime industry to create better things. One example is the application of leading edge tubercles on a foil. This research aims to determine the effect of using leading edge tubercles on the NACA 0012. The foil is installed on the monohull and pentamaran with varying distances on the foil (Lx = 2c, Ly = 1c); (Lx = 2c, Ly = 0.7c); (Lx = 2c, Ly = 0.5c) and speed variations (Fn = 0.2; 0.3; 0.4; 0.5; 0.75; 1). The research was carried out with CFD simulation using ANSYS Fluent software. The results obtained are total resistance, viscosity resistance, wave resistance, and lift force. The analysis results show that in the monohull and pentamaran models the largest resistance value is produced by the model with the closest foil spacing, namely Ly = 0.5c. This means that the closer the foil is, the greater the resistance value of the ship. Thus, it is hoped that this research can provide a deeper understanding of the effects of using leading edge tubercles on foils installed on ships.
