Abstract

Hypertension, often referred to as the "silent killer" because it can only be detected through blood pressure measurements, can lead to fatal complications if uncontrolled. The prevalence of hypertension in Asia reaches 33.98%, higher than the global prevalence of 31.1%. Therefore, managing hypertension through increased physical activity is crucial. This study aims to analyze the relationship between daily physical activity and the degree of hypertension in hypertensive patients. This quantitative study involved 92 adult hypertensive patients selected through purposive sampling. Data were collected using the Global Physical Activity Questionnaire (GPAQ) and the average of two blood pressure measurements taken 10-15 minutes apart. The results showed a significant relationship between daily physical activity and the degree of hypertension in hypertensive patients, with a Spearman correlation coefficient of -0.405 and a significant p-value of 0.001 (<0.05). This indicates that the higher the level of physical activity, the lower the degree of hypertension. The conclusion of this study is that daily physical activity plays a crucial role in controlling blood pressure in hypertensive patients, and increasing physical activity levels can contribute to reducing the degree of hypertension. These findings provide a strong basis for emphasizing the importance of a healthy and active lifestyle in hypertension management.
