Abstract

HIV/AIDS cases is one of the main problems as an infectious disease, including in adolescents. The knowledge about HIV/AIDS is one of the main factors in increasing the number of teenagers throughout the world. The use of social media as a source of new information about HIV/AIDS is one of interesting aspect of increasing teenager’s knowledge. This study aims to analyze the relationship between social media use and knowledge of HIV/AIDS in adolescents. Research design uses descriptive analytics with a cross-sectional approach. The analysis test used was chi-square test with a sampling technique using a purposive sampling technique of 245 respondents. The result of this study found that there is a relationship between the use of social media and knowledge of HIV/AIDS in adolescents with a P value = 0.015 (P<0.05). conclusion of this research is that there is a relationship between the use of social media and knowledge of HIV/AIDS in adolescents. Teenagers are expected to be able to use social media appropriately and usefully.
