Abstract

ICU nurses play a crucial role in evaluating gradually changing conditions of critically ill patients. Given the variability in patient conditions, they need deep understanding and decision-making skills to provide appropriate care. Solid knowledge of using APACHE II as a mortality prediction tool is vital for ICU medical staff. The performance of nurses reflects the quality of nursing care delivered. Currently, further research is needed on nurses' knowledge and attitudes regarding APACHE II use, as this is essential to ensure effective and appropriate patient care. This study aims to determine the relationship between nurses' knowledge and attitudes in conducting APACHE II assessments. This study used a cross sectional design. The sampling technique used was total sampling with a total sample of 35 nurses. The results of statistical tests in this study using chi square showed a P Value .>0.05 which means that there is no significant correlation, but in the same direction related to the knowledge and attitude of nurses in the Intensive Care Unit of Pertamina Hospital.
