Abstract
DKI Jakarta is one of the highest contributors to HIV cases in Indonesia with 5,982 cases in 2022. The high number of cases is due to a lack of knowledge about HIV prevention and transmission, resulting in a bad stigma against PLWV. Stigma against PLWH is a global challenge that still needs to be overcome. This study aims to analyze the relationship between housewives' knowledge about HIV/AIDS and stigma towards PLWH in Kelurahan Tengah, Jakarta Timur. Using a cross-sectional design with a sample of 188 housewives, sampling was purposive sampling. Data were analyzed using descriptive test and Chi-Square test. The results showed that out of 188 housewives, the majority were adults (61.2%), had low education (84%), low economic status (81.4%), no experience interacting with PLWH (93.6%), and lack of exposure to information (73.4%). There was a significant relationship between knowledge about HIV/AIDS and stigma towards PLWH with a p-value of 0.001 (p<0.05) and an OR of 12.6, which means that housewives who have less knowledge about HIV/AIDS are 12.6 times more likely to experience high stigma than housewives with good knowledge. Health education about HIV/AIDS should be conducted more often for housewives using booklets, videos, or seminars as an effort to reduce stigma towards PLWH.
