Abstract
The current employment issue is that the workforce continues to grow, but the opportunities or opportunities for employment are still limited, causing unemployment. The industrial sector is believed to be able to support economic growth and employ large numbers of workers. Based on the number of workers, the industrial sector is divided into 4 parts, namely home industry (micro), small, medium, and large. In this study, researchers focused on medium and large enterprises. This research aims to find out and see the influence of the number of industrial units, minimum wages, and gross regional domestic product in the industrial sector on labor absorption in the large and medium industrial sectors in the free trade area. This type of research is quantitative by taking secondary data, data from BPS Riau Islands Province. This research uses panel data for the period 2010-2021. The analytical method used is multiple linear regression using the Eviews 12 application. The results of this study show that the variable Number of Industrial Units (JUI) has a significant effect and has a positive relationship with labor absorption, while the Provincial Minimum Wage (UMP) variable has no effect and has a negative relationship. and Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) is not significant but has a positive relationship with labor absorption in the free trade area.
