Abstract

Shallow Well Water Pump is one of the best-selling and most widely produced products by PT X. The purpose of this study is to make quality control efforts to minimize the level of defects of the product so that it remains in accordance with the company's standards. This research was conducted using Six Sigma DMAIC. The Define stage in this study uses 9 item requirements in Critical to Quality (CTQ) and SIPOC Diagram which describes the company's flow. In the Measure stage, 4 dominant types of defects were obtained based on the Pareto Diagram, namely Impeller Noise, Impeller Stuck, Mechanical Seal Leakage & Periodic Noise, then DPMO of 2674.786 and Sigma Level of 4.29. The Analyze stage in this study uses Fault Tree Analysis (FTA) which analyzes the factors that cause the dominant defect type and then Failure Mode and Effects Analysis which identifies the severity, frequency, and detection to find out the process of the dominant defect type that is a priority to be corrected. The Improve stage in this study was carried out with 5W+1H which identified how the right improvement proposal was with a 10:1 inspection. The results of the implementation of this improvement proposal are supported by the reduction of the DPMO value to 2127.033 and the increase in the Sigma Level value to 4.36 at the Control stage.
