Abstract
Biodiesel is a type of fuel made from organic sources, making it a solar alternative. Biodiesel is being enhanced due to its environmental friendliness compared to fossil fuels, this reducing carbon emissions. Biodiesel production is considered expensive, prompting comparisons among fuels based on their advantages in the Kirloskar AV1 engine specifications. This research aims to determine the efficiency and exhaust effects of using Diesel, Soy methyl ester B20, M15, and P15 fuels. The analysis process on the Kirloskar AV1 engine system using Diesel, Soy methyl ester B20, M15, and P15 fuels was conducted via Diesel RK software. The analysis results indicate that the Piston Engine Power and Engine Emission values at 1000rpm - 1500rpm for Diesel, SME B20, M20, and P20 fuels. Diesel yields the highest Piston Engine Power with an average of 3.9578 kW, while P20 has the lowest value at an average of 3.807 kW. Marine diesel shows the highest emissions at an average of 0.001 g/kWh, whereas SME B20 has the lowest emissions at an average of 0.00548 g/kWh. M20 and M30 achieve the highest engine efficiency and engine emission values, with averages of 4.9791 kW, 5.0490 kW, 0.00573 g/kWh, and 0.00557 g/kWh respectively. Therefore, M20 and M30 prove to be more efficient fuels when considering the balance between engine performance and emissions. M15 also demonstrates efficiency in fuel consumption and engine power, despite producing higher SOx emissions. Biodiesel shows good indicated efficiency and highest power in the 1000rpm-1500rpm range with lower CO2 emissions, offering a balance in reducing pollutants and high compatibility. The use of these four fuels should be considered based on their emission and engine efficiency.
