Abstract
Indonesia is an agricultural country that has extensive agricultural land that makes most of its population work in the agricultural sector so that it provides rice production with diverse conditions in Indonesia. Some provinces may have better agricultural potential due to extensive and fertile land, good fertilizers, diverse technologies, and abundant labor while other provinces may face challenges such as less fertile land or unfavorable climate change. The purpose of this study was to identify and analyze areas that have optimal rice production conditions, as well as to analyze what explains the conditions that can support rice production using the Qualitative Comparative Analysis (QCA) method. The population in this study was the rice production conditions in 34 provinces in Indonesia. The results showed that there were 4 (four) clusters with optimal rice production seen from the conditions of harvest area, subsidized fertilizers, labor, and agricultural technology, namely the South Sulawesi Cluster; West Java Cluster; Central Java Cluster; and East Java Cluster. The relationship between the conditions of harvest area, subsidized fertilizer, labor, and agricultural technology in rice production is expected to increase the amount of rice production and see what programs have been successfully implemented by local governments that can have a positive impact on rice production in Indonesia.
