Abstract
This research aims to discuss how China's vaccine diplomacy within the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) has influenced Indonesia's views and policies towards the initiative, as well as its impact on public health and economic recovery following the COVID-19 pandemic. BRI, which has begun to weaken due to cases of cooperation that led to debt traps, has caused concerns and unfavourable views from other countries, especially partner countries. By deepening the understanding of these dynamics, this research has the potential to provide valuable insights into how vaccine diplomacy has become an important element in China's foreign policy strategy and its impact on partner countries such as Indonesia. The method used in this research is qualitative with a literature study approach. This approach involves analyzing various secondary data sources such as scientific articles, policy reports, and official documents related to BRI and China's vaccine diplomacy. The data analysis technique was carried out through the stages of data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing/verification with data triangulation. The results of the study show that China's vaccine diplomacy strategy through the "Health Silk Road" has influenced Indonesia's views and policies towards the BRI. By placing the health sector as the main focus, China managed to strengthen bilateral relations through the distribution of the COVID-19 vaccine to Indonesia. The impact is seen in the improvement of the health of the Indonesian people as well as the potential contribution to post-pandemic economic recovery. This research also reveals that vaccine diplomacy has become an important element in China's geopolitical strategy, which utilizes the BRI initiative to expand its influence globally, including in Indonesia.
