Abstract

The development of cellular telecommunications technology, especially 4G LTE, has made it possible to exchange information more quickly and efficiently compared to previous generations. In Indonesia, the WhatsApp application is the main choice for long-distance communication, both in the form of voice and video calls. This study conducted a comparative analysis of the quality of WhatsApp voice and video call services on the 4G LTE network using the drive test method at the Pondok Labu and Limo UPN Veteran Jakarta campuses. The providers tested were Telkomsel, XL Axiata, and Indosat Ooredoo. The parameters measured include RSRP, SNR, and Quality of Service parameters (Throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss) using the G-Net Track Pro and Wireshark applications. Based on the measurement results at the Pondok Labu campus, XL Axiata is the most optimal and stable provider for making WhatsApp video calls with an average index parameter value of 3.2, and WhatsApp voice calls with an average index value of 2.8. Meanwhile, at the Limo campus, the three providers have the same average index parameter values, namely 2.8 for video calls and 2.5 for voice calls. However, Indosat Ooredoo shows better service quality for WhatsApp video and voice calls at the Limo campus with higher average parameter values for SNR and Throughput.
