Abstract
This research aims to explore and analyze the securitization process of South Korea regarding fine dust pollution within the framework of climate change, with a focus on the Moon Jae-in administration. In this context, the study will discuss the securitization strategies employed by the South Korean government and how political, economic, and environmental factors influence this process. The research will also identify the role of both local and international media in shaping public opinion and influencing the government's response to environmental issues. By analyzing the selected domestic and foreign policy frameworks of the government and media coverage, this study aims to investigate how climate change, particularly fine dust pollution, is framed as a security issue at both national and international levels. Data obtained from literature reviews and media content analysis will provide in depth insights into the complex dynamics behind this securitization process. The research finds that the measures and policies implemented under the Moon Jae-in administration have not been optimal, as they have not yet achieved the set targets. However, they at least reflect a strong commitment to addressing fine dust issues and improving air quality to meet recommended standards.
