Abstract
Indonesia is one of the countries that produces the largest amount of plastic waste in the world. Reporting from the Central Statistics Agency, every year Indonesia produces 64 million tons of plastic waste annually, with plastic bottle cap waste being a significant contributor. However reporting from Sustainable Waste Indonesia, only 7% of this waste is processed properly, with 24% not processed and 69% accumulating in landfills. Due to this problem, technology is needed to help people manage waste, especially plastic bottle cap waste. Therefore, the plastic bottle cap waste sorting system with the TCS3200 sensor based on the ESP32 microcontroller is designed to help the community. The system consists of a moving conveyor that will automatically sort plastic bottle cap waste based on five colors, including red, yellow, green, blue, and white. The sorted caps are counted and displayed on an LCD in real-time. The results of the research show that this tool is able to distinguish five different colors on plastic bottle caps. The accuracy obtained for white is 95%, yellow is 96%, green is 97%, red is 99%, and blue is 100%. The system aims to raise public awareness about utilizing discarded waste as an economic asset.
