Abstract
The effectiveness of a shaft system relies on a thorough comprehension of crucial rotational events. Failure to address these events may lead to mechanical breakdowns and potential damage to the entire engine. Therefore, it is imperative to actively engage in hands-on learning or experimentation to mitigate the risk of such harm. To surmount this challenge, a specialized critical rotation test tool has been created, measuring 1600 x 250 x 700 mm (L x W x H). This tool is adept at conducting critical rotation tests on specimens ranging from 3 to 10 mm in diameter and 600 to 1000 mm in length. The manufacturing of the critical shaft rotation test equipment involved a process spanning approximately 405.5 minutes or 7.25 hours, incurring a total production cost of IDR 3,603,550.00. Tests conducted with this equipment revealed a marginal difference of around 22 rpm between theoretical and experimental values, equating to a percentage variance of 1.3744%. Consequently, the developed test equipment proves invaluable for practical learning on the vibrations and dynamics of shaft mechanisms. It presents a viable solution to overcome the limitations associated with directly observing critical rotation phenomena in specific industries.
