Abstract
Hyperlipidemia is an increase in total cholesterol, LDL, triglyceride levels and a decrease in HDL in the blood. High triglyceride levels can cause accumulation of free fatty acids which cause oxidative stress which can lead to pancreatic cell necrosis. Bidara leaves contain flavonoid metabolite compounds that have the potential to act as antioxidants. This study aims to determine the potential of bidara leaf extract (Ziziphus mauritiana Lam.) on the histopatological appearance of the pancreas in hyperlipidemia Wistar rats. This research is a true experimental with a randomized post-test only control group design consisting of 6 treatments. Treatments included control group (K0), high fat feed (K1), orlistat 2,16 mg (K2), and bidara leaf extract 0,2; 0,4; and 0,8 mg/kgBW (K3; K4; and K5). The parameter measured is the degree of pancreatic cell necrosis. The results showed that bidara leaf extract (Ziziphus mauritiana Lam.) had a significant effect (p<0,05) on the degree of pancreatic cell necrosis. The conclusiun of this research is that bidara leaf extract (Ziziphus mauritiana Lam.) at doses of 0,2 and 0,8 mg/kgBW has the potential to inhibit pancreatic cell necrosis, where the dose of 0,2 mg/kgBW is the most effective dose among the other treatment groups.
